Welcome to Year 4

We are very much looking forward to this year and getting to know all of you. This homepage aims to give you an overview of the things that will be happening in Year 4 and we hope that you will find it useful.

You can find the slides from our September 2022 ‘Meet the Teacher’ presentation at the end of this page.

Homework

Is given out on Friday. It will include:

  • one piece of English based homework
  • Spellings to learn
  • Either written maths homework or Times Tables.

In addition, children are expected to read for 15-20 minutes at least 3 times a week and practise on TimesTable Rock stars regularly.

Children have until the next Friday to complete the homework, if it is not returned an extension will be given until Monday. If it is still not returned they will spend 20 minutes completing it with a teacher in homework club.

If children are struggling with the homework they can bring it to us at any point during the week for help.

PE Days

Wednesdays and Fridays

E-learning Collaboration

St Peter’s is part of an exciting e-learning collaboration with a number of schools in the USA as part of the JDO Foundation programme. This is a not-for-profit organisation and their programme aims to develop children’s global understanding through collaboration between educators in different countries.

Year 4 will take part in the programme, collaborating on a joint project each term with their partner class. These projects may include activities such as creating blog posts and making presentations or videos. At the end of each project the classes will join together with their US partners in a live-time video conference to share what they have learnt.

First Holy Communion

Preparation for First Holy Communion is held in the parishes, but as a school we want to celebrate this special moment in the children's faith journey. Please let us know when your child's First Holy Communion is, we try to attend as many of them as we can.

Towards the end of the summer term, a special celebration is held at school in which the children participate. This enables the class to celebrate with those who have received their First Holy Communion.
