Building & Resources Fund (Governors’ fund)

Unlike the School Fund or FOSP monies, the Building and Resources Fund (administered by the Governing Body) can only be used to support capital expenditure for the essential upkeep of the school buildings and outdoor space. This includes the exterior and interior repairs, maintenance of the buildings and improvements that enhance the learning environment.

In previous years, we have focused on:

  • improving school site security;
  • refurbishing and updating the outdoor Reception area;
  • greatly enhancing the Year 1 and Year 2 outdoor independent learning area;
  • installing new fencing and gates around the school field,
  • installing emergency lighting throughout the school;
  • updating the KS1 toilet facilities; and
  • updating the facilities within the staff room.

In addition, we have liaised with the Friend’s of St Peter’s on projects such as improving the outside learning through the installation of the amphitheatre, developing a flexible computing facility to be used in classrooms, as well as raising monies for the ‘Raise the Roof’ project.

As well as the above, the Governing Body and school leadership team have been successful in obtaining grants via the Diocese for:

  • In 2016, for the refurbishment of the school kitchen, replacement of the ventilation structure, a new boiler/heating system and a small extension of the school hall;
  • In Spring term of 2020, for Phase 1 of the ‘Raise the Roof’ project which was to fully repair the school roof of the main building. This included sky lights into the library and intervention rooms;
  • In Autumn term of 2020, we received funding for the Hot Water project to update all pipework throughout the school and install new sinks within the classrooms;
  • In 2022, for Phase 2 of the ‘Raise the ‘Roof’ project to complete the repair of the remaining section of the school roof.

As a Voluntary Aided School we must raise 10% of the value of any grants to undertake capital projects. For the above projects we had to raise over c.£120,000 to ensure these essential works for the school were completed.

The Governing Body rely totally on the financial support of the parents, grandparents and friends of the school to meet this obligation.

Donations towards this Fund are therefore very welcome and can be made by standing order or direct donation via ParentMail. Gift aid can be claimed on donations by the Fund. Below are links to the Gift Aid Form and Standing Order Mandate.

It is important to understand that no parent is obliged to make these payments, but any voluntary donation you can afford would be gratefully received.
