Welcome to Key Stage 2 and Year 3. In this year we hope to make the transition from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2 as smooth as possible. We hope your children will enjoy the various activities and learning throughout the year. If you have any questions about how we work in Year 3 or have anything that you would like talk about then please feel free to drop in and see us.
You can find the slides from our September 2023 ‘Meet the Teacher’ presentation at the end of this page.
Homework
Children are expected to read at least 3 / 4 times a week for around 15 minutes. This should be recorded in either their reading diary or their Reading Challenge booklet. Formal homework is given out on a Friday and will include:
- one piece of English,
- spellings (to be tested the following Friday)
and
- a piece of Maths or Times Tables practise
Children have until the next Friday to complete the homework, if it is not returned an extension will be given until Monday. If it is still not returned they will spend 20 minutes completing it with a teacher in homework club.
PE Days
Tuesdays and Wednesdays
First Holy Communion
Preparation for First Holy Communion is held in the parishes, but as a school we want to celebrate this special moment in the children's faith journey. Please let us know when your child's First Holy Communion is, we try to attend as many of them as we can.
Towards the end of the summer term, a special celebration is held at school in which the children participate. This enables the class to celebrate with those who have received their First Holy Communion.
