Keeping Safe
Our Child-Friendly Child Protection Policy
At St Peter’s, it is every adult’s job to make sure that you are safe, healthy and happy.
All the adults know that this important job has to be done well, and we all agree to work in the right way to help you.
We teach you how to recognise risks in different situations and how to protect yourselves and stay safe. We will talk and listen to you when you have problems or worries.
How will we try to protect you?
- We want to make sure our school is a safe place for you to learn and play
- We want to ensure that you are safe at home
- We want you to know where to get help if you are worried or unhappy about something
- We will listen to you and find out what is happening
Don’t keep it a secret if someone is:
- Bullying you
- Saying funny things to you that you do not like or which upset you
- Touching you
- Trying to give you tablets, cigarettes, drugs or alcohol
- Hitting you or hurting you
- Taking your things
- Sending unkind messages on the internet or to your phone
If you need to talk – we will listen!
- You can talk to any adult in school and they will help you
- You can write a note and put it in the Worry Box
- You can tell a friend and ask them to come with you to tell an adult
- We have some special teachers who have a big job of keeping you safe. You can talk to any of them too. They are:
Will you keep my worries a secret?
- We can’t promise to keep a secret, but we won’t tell other people about your worries unless we have to.
- Some problems are too big for us to deal with in school and might need us to speak to other people who can help.
- We won’t tell anyone your problems unless they can help, and we will always tell you who we are talking to and why.
Worried about a friend?
Follow the same advice in this policy. It is great to keep our friends safe.
Who else can help?
- You can call Childline for free. This won’t show up on your phone bill.
- If you see something online that worries that worries you, you can visit thinkuknow.co.uk
Remember!
Every adult at St Peter’s is here to keep you safe!
