Topic - Y3 w/c 13th July
You should spend about 30 minutes working on each topic based task. We have 2 pieces of work to complete this week to finish our Special Places Topic
RE Lesson 1: Taking Action
Step 1: Look at the ‘Taking Action’ PowerPoint linked at the bottom of the page.
Step 2: Think about these questions…you don’t need to write anything down, just have a think about what you think the answers would be.
-
Why are these people taking action?
-
Name some of the different ways these children are showing respect for God’s world.
-
Why is it important to think about our brothers and sisters around the world?
-
In what ways do people in some other parts of the world contribute to the way you live?
-
In what ways can we and our families contribute to the way of life of people in other parts of the world?
-
What action can you take to preserve God’s world as a special place?
Step 3: Activity – Complete the ‘Taking Action’ Worksheet which is linked at the bottom of the page
RE Lesson 2: Rosena’s Story
Step 1: Read this line of scripture to yourself…
...the love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. Romans 5:5
This means that God is in a special place in our hearts, and it is a special kind of prayer when we take time to think about God in our hearts. Wherever we pray, God has a special place in our hearts.
Step 2: Look at the Power Point Rosena’s Story
When things were difficult for Rosena, she could still feel God in her heart, and the Word of God kept her safe.
Think about the answers to these questions…
-
What was difficult for Rosena?
-
Who helped her in the difficult times?
-
What kind of things did Rosena do when she felt God close to her in her heart?
-
What kind of things do you do that help you feel God close in your heart?
-
What would you like to tell Rosena about the good times and difficult times in your life?
Step 3: Activity – Complete the ‘Opening our Hearts to God’ sheet, linked below.

Watch the video - https://vimeo.com/218127170
Look at the quick PowerPoint to see the stages of a plant lifecycle.

- Complete the year 3 plants revision booklet. If you don’t remember or need help – use your researching skills to see if you can find the answers….
Extension question:
- Can you name some plants that have adapted to their environment?
- How are they adapted to their environment?
Geography
Continue your natural disasters project
Our second topic this year was ‘Active Earth’. We learnt all about Earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis and tectonic plates. We were also able to find locations like the ring of fire and fault zones on a map.
Your task for geography for two weeks is up to you!
Try a few different activities or come up with your own fantastic ideas ☺
You may want to:
- Information leaflet or booklet about an area of Active Earth.
- Fact file about different natural disasters.
- Natural disaster art piece
- Build a model, showing how the earthquakes, tsunamis work etc.
- Map/jigsaw picture showing the Tectonic plates.
- Descriptive story about a natural disaster!
- Newspaper report detailing the events of a real/not real disaster.
- Science experiment showing how tsunamis, earthquakes or tornadoes work etc.
- Role play, imagining you are in a tornado, hurricane etc. how would you feel? How would you escape?
- PowerPoint presentation, explaining how a natural disaster occurs
